Eleanor Arnold: Victims of the Wreck, in the 'Disc' they will ship
This work comes from a series of transfer prints looking at archival news images of the American military's re-staging of a local's UFO discovery. The army had taken hold of the 'disc' from a local rancher which was reported in the news. The next day the army shared these images saying they had been mistaken, and the UFO was simply a weather balloon.
Arnold was interested in the theatricality and stilted-ness of the images, the cataloguing of debris, time-lapse, and how the documentation of these images had caused conspiracies around the event to proliferate. She is also interested in the military's use of weather balloons as a narrative device/distraction technique. Arnold is interested in the physical processes of printmaking ie. layering, abrading etc and the use of scrap materials and discarded imagery/text.

About the Artist
I like to make machines that make prints. I am interested in creating systems that gather or generate images. Last year I built an antenna to gather weather satellite images from the park at the end of my road, recently I have been trying to create a rain machine that also works as a rain gauge - reporting on itself as it operates. I am currently studying on the MFA at Goldsmiths, having previously attended the Ruskin School of Art.
