Dinu Li: Tings Are Tuff
Dinu Li: Tings Are Tuff
Dinu Li’s collage speaks to the overlooked history of Chinese servants, uprooted to the Caribbean as cheap labourers. Often from the same part of China as the artist’s ancestral roots, Li acknowledges the contributions made by these servants and their descendants. Inspired by the iconography of street markets and roadside hawker stalls, Tings Are Tuff forges new possibilities out of disparately assembled objects.
