Just as a chorus blends individual voices into a harmonious whole, urban environments are composed of a rich cacophony of sounds. The bustle of city life, the hum of passing cars, the noise of nearby construction - all creates a distinctive soundscape where diverse communities and cultures converge.

Wright draws endless inspiration from our built environment. As society increasingly chooses to live in towns and cities, the very materials of the city become his material and he try to reflect those anxiety inducing pressures of density, lack of accessible green space, increasingly unaffordable rental expectations and a rising cost of living.

Titled 'All My Possessions for a Moment in Time', this sculptural lamp embodies the interplay of harmony and discord found in shared urban experiences. Its base, a large, textured concrete boulder, serves both as a stabilising force and a metaphorical burden, evoking the myth of Sisyphus, endlessly pushing his stone uphill.

About the Artist

Josh C. Wright

[b.1993, High Wycombe]. Lives and works in Margate, UK.

At the core of Josh's artistic practice are his sculptural works, which have a unique ability to transform the everyday into delicate and vulnerable forms that challenge our perceptions and evoke the precarious nature of our daily existence inviting viewers to contemplate the intricate complexities of contemporary urban life.
