About the Artist

Verity Birt has an interdisciplinary, research-lead practice, working with installation, film, performance, writing and sound. Rooted in intersectional feminism, Verity works site-specifically and collaboratively to find equitable ways to connect to each other, the land and the more-than-human world. 

Verity has a BA in Art Practice from Goldsmiths University, London (2011) and MA in Painting & Moving Image from the Royal College of Art (2015). Verity completed her PhD in Art and Social Sciences in 2023 at Northumbria University and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Her research was titled ‘Earthy Intimacies; Re-worlding as an Interdisciplinary and Feminist Art Practice’.

Verity is a publicly funded artist and has been awarded numerous grants from Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Northern Film and Media and The European Union. She also works in access support for the Gov. Department for Work & Pensions assisting artists with access needs to get funding, apply for opportunities and manage projects.
