Jake Fisk : Holder
Jake Fisk : Holder
All of the pieces in this body of work explore the face as a symbol of the collective and performative nature of people and materials. the clay pots, a functional vessel with faces emerging form their surfaces with mouths open, as though about to speak, sing or share.
'Holder' drawings are a series of works made from drawing small sculptures where faces blend into surface, becoming abstracted earthy colour-scapes.

About the Artist
Jake Fisk is a multidisciplinary artist born in Suffolk. Fisk studied sculpture at the Slade School of Art and later went on to study with the Royal Drawing School. Central to his questioning and making are processes and feeling. Exploring emotions, materiality and his relation to the world around him through vivid uses of colour and sensitive material understanding. His works are reactive, aiming to situate themselves at the intersection of sculpture, space, flatness, blending and overlap between his mediums. Fisk has exhibited in varied settings across London, Oxford and Suffolk and was awarded artist residencies in the UK and Italy, working in ceramics research, painting and drawing.
