This is an edition of 15 giclee prints of a reproduction of a drawing made earlier this year. This is one of a series of drawings that are made while listening to music - hence the title. The artist was listening to Chick Correa when she made it. Currier felt that it somehow spoke to the theme of the show - Chorus. It's a mass of singing, wriggling writhing and dancing parts. And a kind of mesmer of a mothership

About the Artist

Janet Currier works across sculpture, installation, drawing and painting. Pattern, repetition and rhythm are a central to her work. Repeated marks and multiple forms are a metaphor for the loving and often monotonous work of looking after others. The female body is never far away. It is most often a body that is under attack, a body being probed, or somehow not quite able to contain itself. Although her starting point is often intensely autobiographical, her work examines universal and shared themes of physical vulnerability, care, motherhood, resilience and transformation

Currier lives and works in London. She studied Fine Art at Leeds University and completed an MFA Goldsmiths in 2017 receiving the Goldsmiths’ Warden’s Art Purchase Prize. Recent shows include: Fuzzy Objects, San Mei Gallery (2020); Hell or High Water, Light Vessel 21, Gravesend, Kent (2020); The Denton Art Prize (2021); Before the moon I am, Hoxton Arches, London (2022), Fetish at Greatorex Street Gallery (2023); It Comes From Inside, Bell House Dulwich (2023) Holding Space, Hospital Rooms, Hauser and Wirth, London (2023) Blink Room 6, Safehouse1, London (2024)
